Merritt Engineering is a civil engineering firm that specializes in engineering solutions for a wide Civil Engineer, Land Development (EIT) range of commercial, residential, and municipal land development projects. We are seeking a skilled and motivated CAD Drafter to be an integral part of our engineering projects, utilizing your expertise in Computer-Aided Design (CAD) to assist in the development and execution of land site development and watershed management plans.
This role will work a multitude of processes for varying projects including residential, commercial, multi-family, industrial, and mixed-use developments. This position will be in the field 10% of the time depending on level of experience.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
Utilize and interpret survey data to develop complex 3D surfaces and models, cross-sections, grading, alignments, and profiles for existing and proposed structures.
Prepare routine to moderately complex level engineering CAD drawings for land development and watershed projects which include plans for paving, drainage, grading, water, wastewater, signage and marking plans for commercial and residential site development as well as plan-profile drawings for public infrastructure improvement projects.
Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and clients to understand project requirements and design specifications.
Make necessary modifications and revisions to CAD drawings as per feedback and changes during the project lifecycle.
Meets project deadlines, ensures budgets are aligned, remains responsive to clients, and ensures proper communication with the project team.
Review and revise drawings to ensure compliance with design standards, regulations, and project requirements.
Perform thorough quality control of construction documents.
Additional tasks may include the preparation of drainage calculations, cut and fill calculations, survey "clean-up," project coordination and attendance at meeting with clients and/or other consultants, site inspections, utility/record drawing research and permit processing through local government agencies as required.
Maintain file management of AutoCAD files, retain organized project documentation, and contribute to project record keeping.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS
Associate degree in drafting, engineering, or a related field or completion of technical school required (bachelor’s degree preferred).
Experience working in Land Development field required.
Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D.
2-3 years of related experience in civil engineering drafting.
Excellent teamwork and communication skills to work in a fast–paced environment dedicated to meeting deadlines.
Have a working knowledge of CAD standards, Civil 3D features and annotation styles, line styles, sheet set manager and drawing setup.
· Understanding of codes and regulatory requirements for design.
Attention to detail and thoroughness in completing multi-step tasks.
Desire to learn and grow professionally.
Work independently and as part of a team with direction from Engineers/Project Managers
Good verbal and written communication skills.
Valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history.
